Gates & automation in Orange.
From a simple pedestrian gate to match your new fence, through to a long automated sliding gate across a Borenore driveway. Steel-framed, properly hung on over-spec posts that do not sag in the frost, and matched to your Colorbond, timber or tubular fence.
Gate types we build.
- Pedestrian gates: single 0.9m to 1.2m gates in Colorbond, timber or tubular steel, matched to the fence. From ~$450 installed.
- Double swing gates: 2.4m to 4.0m vehicle gates for a town driveway or paddock entry, with drop-bolt and latch. ~$1,200-$2,200.
- Sliding gates: the better choice on a sloping or tight driveway where a swing gate would foul the ground, on a steel track or cantilever runner.
- Automated entry: sliding or swing automation with remotes, keypad or intercom, safety photo-eyes, and a solar option for off-grid rural gates. From ~$2,800.
- Rural farm gates: galvanised tube farm gates and cattle-grid entries for the grazing blocks around Cargo and Borenore.
Hung to last in the Orange climate.
A gate is the part of a fence that moves thousands of times a year, so it is the part most likely to fail if it is built cheap. The hinge post carries the whole weight, and in Orange that post also has to resist frost-heave and the seasonal swell of the basalt clay. We over-spec gate posts, concrete them deeper than the fence posts and below the frost-affected zone, and fit adjustable hinges so the gate can be re-trued if the ground settles. The result is a gate that still swings clean and latches square after a decade of freeze-thaw winters.
Automation done properly for rural driveways.
Most of our automated gates go on the lifestyle and grazing blocks ringing Orange: Clifton Grove, Spring Hill, Borenore and out toward Cargo. We match the motor to the gate weight and the driveway slope, allow for the long approach a rural gate needs, and fit safety beams so the gate cannot close on a vehicle or animal. Where there is no mains power at the gate, a solar-and-battery automation kit runs the whole thing off the sun, which matters on a property where running power 200m down the drive is its own project.
Worked example.
A double 3.6m swing gate to match a new Colorbond fence, manually operated, runs around $1,800 installed. Add a swing-gate automation kit with two remotes and a keypad and the same gate comes in around $3,600 to $4,200, depending on whether power is already at the gate. Frequently asked questions.
How much does a gate cost in Orange?
A matching pedestrian gate runs about $450 to $750 installed, a double vehicle gate $1,200 to $2,200, and an automated sliding or swing gate from around $2,800 depending on size, brand and whether power is at the gate.
Can you automate a gate on a rural Orange driveway?
Yes. We size the motor to the gate and driveway, fit safety beams and remote or keypad entry, and offer solar automation for long driveways without mains power, common around Borenore and Spring Hill.
Do you build gates to match an existing fence?
Yes. We match Colorbond colour and profile, timber paling style and capping, or pool-compliant spec, so the gate reads as part of the fence.
What about frost and gate sag in Orange?
We over-spec the hinge post, concrete it deep below the frost zone, and use adjustable hinges so the gate can be re-trued, keeping it swinging clean through freeze-thaw winters.
